Goosed

Lately, when I'm driving along the river, particularly on my way home from work, I see the gangs gathering.
They threaten and mark their territory. People go out of their way to avoid walking too close.
I wonder when we lost our parks.
To tell the truth, it reminds me of that Monty Python sketch where the roving gangs of grannies took over the neighbourhood, frightening all the youth and wreaking havoc.
The other night, on my way to a meeting, I was stopped behind three cars at at apparently clear underpass. Wondering what the hold-up was, I started looking around and caught sight of a bad-ass goose strutting across the street to get to his buddies on the other side. No playing chicken. He was full of intent.

No one's messing with an intentional goose.

  2. Ack, geese. So not a fan. It's duckling season here and rescues are making the news. It's sorta cute but tragic. In fact, a flock of them shut down the freeway yesterday. :D

  3. Mostly when I'm driving here in California I have to watch people not putting on their turn signal. So I would have to re-write Wende's comment above and say, "Ack, California drivers. So not a fan."

  5. I think that last line -- "No one's messing with an intentional goose" -- has a poem in it.

  6. too funny! Did you know that it's illegal to kill Canadian geese here? (not that I would want to, but I think it's crazy that there's a law about them).

Stepping in goose poo is my #1 pet peeve...there's a huge herd of them that like to hang out at my office building.

  7. lol Carly! don't you just love it when the babies come though? All those cute fluffy feathers and little black eyes? aww! but oftentimes reality strikes and brings me back when I've accidently stepped into goose poo. Yuck!

  8. Yup, you don't realize how vicious the geese are until you get in the way one time! I never used to mind them, but now I go out of my way to avoid them.
